A seamless approach
We provide a flexible approach to working with our customers. We offer a complete concept to installation service, or we can provide services to complement your own services.
Design
U-Roofs experienced LGSF team are able to provide a complete consultation and design service, and have the capabilities to work with and alongside client design teams, architects and homeowners to ensure every aspect of the project brief is met and fully co-ordinated.
Every project no matter how small is designed using the very latest 3D cad software which facilitates real-time 3 dimensional model creation. This feature allows our clients to visualise and coordinate projects throughout all stages of the design process. Free model viewing software can also be provided so clients have the ability to review project models from the comfort of their office or home, and can also be formatted and integrated with BIM execution plans where required.
Manufacture
All system sections and panels are manufactured and fabricated by our skilled workforce in our state-of-the-art facility using bespoke machinery and tooling. This enables us to control quality, accuracy and eliminates dependency issues with 3rd party suppliers. Factory production controls are in place throughout each stage of the manufacturing and fabrication process conforming to BS EN 1090 with certification supporting works up to execution
class 2.
Installation and support
Due to the simplicity of the U-Roof system many of our clients choose to install projects themselves on a supply only basis, where this option is chosen we can support you and your contractor team in an advisory and inspection capacity to ensure your project runs as smoothly as possible. We also have our own experienced installer teams should you prefer a full installation service. The U-Roof team are extremely flexible and are able to work with you to ensure your project is delivered effectively, and to suit your budget and programme requirements.
What U-Roof actually does
U-Roof manufactures galvanised light gauge steel frames in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, and supplies them across the UK. We are a manufacturer and a supplier, not a builder — which means our job is to make sure the structure you receive is engineered correctly, arrives complete, and goes together without argument.
Everything below is a service we provide as part of that, and every one of them exists because a project goes wrong when it is missing.
Structural design and engineering
Every frame is engineered individually. We do not sell standard kits with the dimensions rounded to the nearest half metre.
Section sizes and gauges are selected against the actual loads for your building: dead load of the structure and finishes, imposed floor load for the intended use, snow load for your location and roof pitch, and wind load including uplift for your wind zone and exposure.
If you tell us that a power rack, a wall bed, a golf enclosure or a hoist is going on a particular wall, that becomes part of the design rather than something you discover cannot be fixed after the plasterboard is on.
Project-specific construction drawings
You receive a complete drawing set with every frame: general arrangements, panel layout drawings with each panel numbered, panel detail drawings showing stud positions and service holes, roof and floor cassette drawings, a foundation setting-out drawing, a fixings schedule and an installation manual.
The panel numbers on the drawing match the labels on the steel that arrives. Full detail on our construction drawings page.
UK manufacturing
Frames are roll-formed in our own factory from galvanised steel coil. Each section is formed to length, punched for services and fixings, and labelled with its panel reference before it leaves the line. Because the machine works from the same data as your approved drawing, what arrives matches what you signed off.
Manufacturing in the UK also means we can phase production against a build programme rather than delivering an entire scheme at once.
Supply of the complete structural package
- Galvanised light gauge steel wall panels, pre-fabricated and numbered
- Roof trusses or rafters engineered for your span and covering — see roof systems
- Floor cassettes or base frames designed for your chosen foundation
- All structural fixings, including the 5.5 x 25mm hex head Tek screws
- Full drawing set, fixings schedule and installation manual
Cladding, insulation, glazing, electrics and internal finishes are specified by you or your contractor, which is what keeps every U-Roof building genuinely bespoke.
Technical support before, during and after
We will review a concept drawing before you commit to it and tell you honestly whether it works. We will advise on the thermal build-up needed to manage bridging and hit your target U-values. We will talk your installer through the erection sequence before they start. And we are on the phone while the frame is going up.
Much of the value we add happens before anything is manufactured — usually by preventing a design that would have been expensive to correct on site.

Who we work with
Architects, main contractors, developers, garden room installers, self-builders and specialist sub-contractors. Each needs something different from a frame supplier — see our partners page for how we work with each.
How to start a project
- Send us a dimensioned sketch, your boundary distances and a few photographs of the plot.
- We come back with a specification and a price for the frame package.
- We produce the drawings; you check and approve them.
- We manufacture and deliver.
- You or your contractor erect it, with our support.
You do not need a full architectural package to start the conversation. Talk to U-Roof.
Lead times, delivery and installation support
Frames are manufactured to order once drawings are approved. A typical garden building frame is produced and delivered flat-packed on a single vehicle; larger residential schemes are phased against your build programme.
Delivery is kerbside or to a agreed set-down point, with panels banded and labelled by elevation so they can be distributed around the plot in erection order. Assembly needs two people and basic tools — there is no cutting and no specialist plant for a domestic-scale building.
We are available by phone throughout erection. If something does not look right on site, call us before you fix it rather than after.
